Without going over each of these cards individually, I will give a brief summary of my findings. For those that read Tarot cards as well, I would be interested to know if you have a different interpretation.
Mr. Bush has grown to be a powerful and successful man, able to bring about whatever changes in the world that he wants, but only at the expense of the financial health of his own people. Still, he views his actions as completely fair and that he has acted in the best interest of everyone. It’s possible he will never understand the negative impact his presidency has had on our country.
I can see that Mr. Bush has undergone immense suffering in the recent past and that during the remainder of his presidency he will find it difficult to accomplish much of anything. His hands are tied, or at least, he thinks they are. Still Mr. Bush, his powerful position notwithstanding, has the impetuousness of a child and is lacking in some areas of courage and personal character. Although he views his actions as just, others see view him the same as a teenager running a lemonade stand and don’t take him seriously.
To Mr. Bush’s credit, he has had the good of the people on his mind lately, as indicated by the Queen of Pentacles. That is certainly true seeing he is trying to expand the money given to some foreign countries to fight AIDS. Still, he faces a great deal of resistance, even from his own party, due to the fund it would take.
All the President really wants right now is to enjoy a full life of vitality. The Sun tells me, despite what others have said, that he is looking forward to his retirement and spending more time with his family. And that certainly suits him, as he always enjoyed his vacations at his Texas ranch.
So what will the president gain from his experience in office? The Strength card tells us he will gain just that. For all his faults, Mr. Bush has become a stronger person since going into office. He has faced constant criticism, and his intellect has often come into the public’s question. His policies have been scrutinized and his family has been attacked. And whatever argument anyone would make on whether Mr. Bush deserved this treatment or not, it had to be hard on him.
No, he probably has not lost any sleep over sending thousands of teenage boys overseas to be killed or over policies that allow torturing human beings or over any of the negative things he has done. I do hope, however, that he does gain some strength from his time in office, and that we are able to recover from his time there quickly.
I don’t think any reasonable person would say that Mr. Bush has done a good job as President, but if he learned something in the process, who are we to say that his time there was in vain? Maybe we all learned something from it. Next time we elect a president on the basis of morals, let’s look more into the true character of the candidates and less into whether or not they’re great Christians.
